Building Your First Hi-Capa

Building Your First Hi-Capa

While building a hi-capa may seem like a daunting task, if you break it down into budgeting and priorities you will find that making the build you want will come with ease.

The first and biggest step is deciding what colors and parts you may want to use. And remember every company uses different shades of certain colors. Even the same company will release different ones. So if you are going for a perfect match and high availability, you should design it around your accent pieces (slide catch, beaver tail, thumb safety) being in the base colors like black, silver matte/stainless, and gold. These will give you the easiest time in finding perfect matches.

After figuring out what colors you are going with it is time to find a purpose for your hi-capa. Is it going to be green gas or hpa powered? Do I want a red dot or fiber sights? How many short strokes do I want to run? These are all great questions and when building it is good to know what direction you plan on going so that you can spend less time fiddling with parts and more time on the field.

The third step is finding a budget. This will help not only determine what you can do at one time but also what needs to be prioritized. Whether you are looking to just get performance right out the gate or if you want something flashy, a budget is a great place to start.
